Mission Monarch is a program run by the Space for Life Insectarium that entails all the initiatives dedicated to monarch conservation, research, awareness, and education at Space for Life. Mission Monarch is part of an international research and education effort aimed at saving the migratory populations of endangered species.
Mission Monarch – Community Science component aims to document, through four simple steps, the monarch’s reproductive success. The data collected through this component will help identify monarch breeding hotspots in order to inform effective conservation measures. People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to take part in this initiative.
Mission Monarch – Expert component aims to characterize, through an elaborate protocol and standardized procedures, potential monarch habitats. The data collected through this component will help track long-term changes in the distribution and abundance of monarchs and their habitats, in order to inform effective conservation measures in Canada. Conservation professionals and skilled community scientists are invited to take part in this initiative.
